Oatmeal Cookies for Abundance

As a kitchen witch, I fully believe we miss out on magickal energy of the food we eat. This includes all types of food and ingredients but Oats is one in particular. Mainly because of its frequent use, especially lately. From left to right all I'm hearing are about the current trends of overnight oats and baked oatmeal.

Those trends are not for any reason. Oats are rich in protein and fiber, they're gluten free (for any of my gluten-issued lovelies), helps stabilize blood glucose levels, and are also excellent for heart health and cholesterol.

But of course that's not all, it's heavy history in uses and lore lend us to its more spiritual abilities, one of those being abundance.

Ingredients and Their Magickal Properties

As I always mention in my recipe posts, the purpose of what I do as a kitchen witch relies on knowledge and intention.

Yes, this recipe will still taste delicious without transforming it into a spell. However, knowing your ingredients is highly important if you wish to utilize this recipe to help change your mind, body, and spirit.

Below is a list of each added ingredient and its extraordinary power for this recipe. Please note that this is not every magickal benefit of this plant or herb, just the areas I believe should be focused on for this specific recipe.

Oats

The star of our show, oats are a traditional and ancient food. Although the Romans viewed them as a lowly food, other cultures such as the Scottish knew of their restorative power.

For this recipe, using oats are to tap into the abundance around us. You can use this for general abundance as I do most of the time, or focus more on wealth and opportunities.

Magickal Uses: Abundance, Wealth, Opportunities, Sustainability, Healing

Cinnamon

I've talked about cinnamon more times than I can count. There's a reason in that however, cinnamon (much like rosemary) is insanely versatile.

Cinnamon is also excellent for abundance magick (esp for wealth) but I recommend you focus on its use of energy to add an extra oomph to your spell.

Magickal Powers: luck, protection, success, lust, love, abundance.

Sugar

Sugar magick is quite simple, use it to "sweeten" up whatever you wish.

As a hearth witch most of my work is surrounding the homestead so I focus on bringing in an abundance of love into my home when I use sugar. Of course what intentions and plants we choose to tap into are completely optional so if you don't feel use for sugars powers for this recipe feel free to skip!

Magickal Powers: Soften, Luck, Love

Nutmeg

We add just a touch to our recipe but it's more than enough for you to utilize our spicy friend.

Nutmeg, with its element of fire and association to Jupiter, is similar with cinnamon it's multi use, including luck, love, prosperity, confidence and clarity/spiritual awareness.

So, again, choose the area of abundance you're focusing on to tap into for nutmeg. For myself I love to focus on its clarity power to help the eater be more aware of the abundance we're receiving.

Magickal Powers: Confidence, Divination, Love, Luck, Prosperity, Clarity/Spiritual Awareness

Maple

Maple trees have a long and strong importance with certain cultures and beliefs. In Celtic mythology, the maple was consecrated to the goddess of fertility, Dana.

How to Implement Magick into the Recipe

*When adding your ingredients, remember to focus on the intention of the ingredient while working with it. (I.E., when stirring in your oats, focus on the intention of your abundance. Not just the idea, but how do they make you feel? How does having these things in your life manifest?

I also recommend using the intentional stirring and speaking method to add to this spell. Simply stir counterclockwise for energies that need to be removed and clockwise for energies that you wish to implement while speaking your incantations (or intention) out loud.

For example, when adding the cinnamon I would stir clockwise three times while speaking to the pot.

Spirit of cinnamon, bless this dish with abundance.

When the recipe is all said and done, I recommend concentrating on an incantation. Although I always recommend creating your own, as spells tend to be more powerful, you can also use the incantation below:

Through this dish, I bring in the blessings of prosperous and loving abundance. May the universe sweeten my life in unforseen ways. So as it's been, so as it is, so as it may be.
