Lucky Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread

As a very logical witch, I often have trouble with manifestations. It's really hard for me to let go of the "how" and just let the universe do its thing.

That being said, I've found that enhancing luck in my magick helps rid me of this need to know. Plus it always makes my day a bit sweeter in ways that I didn't expect.

Which is why I love this banana bread. I always have old bananas on hand. Plus it's great for breakfast ensuring I'm getting my day off on a lucky foot.

Ingredients and Their Magickal Properties

As I always mention in my recipe posts, the purpose of what I do as a kitchen witch relies on knowledge and intention.

Yes, this recipe will still taste delicious without transforming it into a spell. However, knowing your ingredients is highly important if you wish to utilize this recipe to help change your mind, body, and spirit.

Below is a list of each added ingredient and its extraordinary power for this recipe. Please note that this is not every magickal benefit of this plant or herb, just the areas I believe should be focused on for this specific recipe.

Bananas

Not just a powerhouse for potassium, bananas are also great for enhancing spirituality? Anytime one is feeling disconnected to spirit or would like guidance, eating a banana with this intention is a sure fire fix.

For this recipe, using bananas not only will enhance our prosperity, but we can also tap into its aspects of energy and spirituality to boost our luck and awareness.

Magickal Uses: Energy, fertility, love, prosperity, spirituality.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is the basis for our luck spell. If you wish you can also add in focus of its other powers to enhance luck in a more specific area.

Magickal Powers: luck, protection, success, lust, love, abundance.

Sugar

Sugar magick is quite simple, use it to "sweeten" up whatever you wish which makes it very complementary to luck magick.

Magickal Powers: Soften, Luck, Love

How to Implement Magick into the Recipe

*When adding your ingredients, remember to focus on the intention of the ingredient while working with it. (I.E., when cracking your eggs, focus on the intention of your new beginning. Not just the idea, but how do they make you feel? How does having these things in your life manifest?

I also recommend using the intentional stirring and speaking method to add to this spell. Simply stir counterclockwise for energies that need to be removed and clockwise for energies that you wish to implement while speaking your incantations (or intention) out loud.

For example, when adding the cinnamon I would stir clockwise three times while speaking to the pot.

Spirit of cinnamon, bless this dish with luck.

When the recipe is all said and done, I recommend concentrating on an incantation. Although I always recommend creating your own, as spells tend to be more powerful, you can also use the incantation below:

Through this dish, I bring in the blessings of luck and abundance. May the universe sweeten my life in unforseen ways. So as it's been, so as it is, so as it may be.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 large overripe bananas, mashed

Cinnamon Swirl

  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheint and prepare loaf pan.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together fry ingredients. Set aside.

  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together your melted butter and sugar.

  4. Add vanilla and eggs and whisk until we'll mixed.

  5. Fold in mashed bananas until combined. Do not overmix on this step, bananas will become more combined in step 6.

  6. Mix in dry ingredients.

  7. In a small bowl, combine ingredients for cinnamon swirl. Swirl needs to be fairly thick to prevent it spreeding on its own. If too thin add some sugar, if too thick add a bit more melted butter.

  8. Get your prepared pan. Pour 1/2 of the banana batter into the pan.

  9. Add 1/2 cinnamon mixture to top and use a knife to swirl the mixture into the batter.

  10. Add the rest of the banana mixture, then cinnamon on top and repeat swirl.

  11. Place in oven and cook for about 40 minutes until golden brown on top.

  12. Place foil over loaf and bake another 20-30 minutes. Insert a toothpick of knife in middle, if it comes out clean it is fully cooked, otherwise put back in oven for a few more minutes and check again.

  13. Allow to rest for 30 minutes before removing from pan. Serve and eat with intention of luck coming your way.
