Cherry Compote: A Love Spell

It's almost cherry season.

And with love in the air from February, I was even more compelled to whip up a cherry compote.

I love cherry compote because it's delicious and very versatile.

Use it to make drinks, top pancakes or waffles, or take it further and bake a cherry pie or some turnovers.

Either way, you have an excellent base for some great love spells.

Ingredients and Their Magickal Properties - Kitchen Magick

As I always mention in my recipe posts, the purpose of what I do as a kitchen witch relies on knowledge and intention.

Yes, this recipe will still taste delicious without transforming it into a spell. However, knowing your ingredients is essential to utilize this recipe to help change your mind, body, and spirit.

Below is a list of each added ingredient and its extraordinary power for this recipe. Please note that this is not every magical benefit of this plant or herb; these are just the areas I believe should be focused on for this specific recipe.

Cherry

Cherry trees are associated with Buddha and Venus. The beautiful blossoms we all know, represent feminine beauty and spark a feeling of love.

It only makes sense for its fruit to also boost attraction. Cherries do this by carrying their love association but are also known for protection against negativity to help us be in a space to allow love in.

Vanilla

Our fermented orchid, vanilla, holds associations with the feminine, water, and Venus; therefore, it is all about tuning into our emotions, an exact spot to be to feel true happiness.

For a long time, folk magick utilized vanilla for love, carrying that Venus energy.

Similarly to chocolate, vanilla also carries comfort and peace to help us relax into a loving emotion.

Almond

Associated with Mercury and the air element, almonds bring us wisdom.

This wisdom is useful for this spell as it helps us see truths and eliminate unrealistic expectations or thoughts caused by past trauma surrounding love and our shadows. It also lends us wisdom as to when to be compassionate. To ourselves or those around us.

Sugar

Sugar adds a little sweetening to our spell to help "sweeten" our situation, especially around love. Whether it's how we look at ourselves, the situations we put ourselves in, or our loved life, sugar will make sure to put more positivity into our lives.

Spell Recipe

How to Implement Magick into the Recipe

*When adding your ingredients, remember to focus on the intention of the ingredient while working with it. (I.E., when folding in your flour, focus on the intention of abundance.

Not just the idea, but how does it make you feel? How does having these things in your life manifest?

I also recommend using the intentional stirring and speaking method to add to this spell. Stir counterclockwise for energies that need to be removed and clockwise for energies you wish to implement while speaking your incantations (or intention) out loud.

For example, I would speak while adding in vanilla.

I recommend also consecrating via an incantation when the recipe is all said and done. Although I always recommend creating your own, as spells tend to be more powerful, you can also use the incantation below:

Through this dish, I bring in the blessings of love. May I sense the external love of the universe, as well as find the love within myself. To truly see all parts of me, and find the magick within. So as it's been, so as it is, so as it may be.

Ingredients

• 2 1/2 tbsp cornstarch

• 2 1/2 tbsp water, cold

• 1lb cherries, frozen or fresh

• 1/3 cup granulated sugar

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

• 1 tsp almond extract

Directions

1. In a pot, create a slurry by mixing cornstarch and cold water until well combined

2. Add in cherries, sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract. (Spirit of cherries, may you bless this dish with love; spirit of sugar, may you bless this dish with love and ability to sweeten lives, spirit of vanilla, may you bless this dish with love and comfort; spirit of almond may you bless this dish with love, wisdom and compassion)

3. Bring the stove to medium heat and allow to cook until cherries start to juice (about 2-4 minutes)

4. Once cherries have started to juice, bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

5. Allow to boil for about 5 minutes while stirring constantly to prevent from burning.

6. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

7. Eat with the intention of love.
