Lore & History of Cacao

Also known as the "Food of the Gods," this fruit provides us with cocoa and chocolate. 


Some cultures, such as the Aztecs, viewed cacao as sacred in Meso-American. It was often used to create remedies, such as "Cup of Gold."


Cacao, with its association with the Venus and Sun, carries a spiritual weight. It is believed to possess magical attributes of love, lust, sex, protection, consecration, strengthening, and exorcism. 


Dried cacao seeds were often used in rosaries in European Christianity.


In some cultures, cacao has been used as incense to expel evil spirits and to be inhaled by those in female puberty rites.


Cacao contains strong alkaloids of theobromine, caffeine, and anandamide, which help stimulate pleasure and vigor, making it a well-known aphrodisiac.


Magickal Attributes of Cacao

Cacao carry masculine energy and are related to Sun (& Venus) and Fire element.


Its occult attributes include Conscecration, Exorcism, Lust, Protection, Purification, Money, Sex, Strengthening, Vigor



Magickal Uses of Cacao

  • Drink chocolate based drinks to enhance your sensual pleasure

  • Feed your lover chocolate covered strawberries to enhance attraction

  • Eat dark chocolate to ground you before spellwork or meditation

  • Sprinkle cocoa powder around your threshold to promote protection

  • Drink a mocha before hardwork for focus and strength to complete tasks

  • Give chocolate as an offering to deities or household spirits in exhange for their blessing and assistance

  • Create a cinnamon chocolate sauce for good luck with love.
