How to Work with Magick
So, you're interested in magick. You may call yourself a witch, magician, occultist enthusiast. You've found yourself drawn to the mystery and power of it all but, where to start.
Social media and books come with plenty of information nowadays. Becoming a practitioner has somehow become easier and harder at the same time. What information to listen to, who to trust, what's bullshit and truth.
So I'm gonna break it down really simple here for you:
Magick is Energy
That's it. That is the big secret. It's simply understanding everything is made up of energy and magick is just us utilizing and manipulating that to our will.
It's easy to get caught up with all the specifics of people's craft that this message is rarely stated bluntly.
But it's all you need. Keeping that knowledge in your back pocket throughout your entire practice will remind you of the simplicity of it all.
How to Manipulate Energy
This is where we start getting more into individuality. I'm not going to give you specifics here because regardless of what you see on social or read in books, there are hundreds of different ways to reach the same end goal.
Some people love affirmations, others lean towards ritual magick; I for one frequently utilize the powers of plant spirit. What is going to be the most powerful for you, is based on your energetic blueprint.
That being said, I will let you in on a secret of where I found to be the sweet spot for energy manipulation.
It is a little zone I like to call "The Inbetween". It's allowing your soul to be grounded to earth while connecting with the spirit realm. It's where the mind is still but your body is vibrating with energy.
So, how do you enter "the in-between"?
Simple, meditation.
Yes, I know the age-old answer to all occultists' advice (and if you're new to the meditation game I recommend taking a look into "box breathing"). But it's a classic for a reason. Meditation is not only a great way to train yourself on quieting your mind, but it also teaches you how to get into a trance state.
The trance state.
That being said, although it sounds pretty simple, our human mind can tend to overcomplicate things so any tools or tricks are far from shameful. So I present to you my Inbetween Incense Blend recipe.
The Inbetween Incense Blend
This baby is honestly one of my top 5 creations. A loose incense blend I used to sell in my apothecary, now I am making it widely available to you in the hopes it'll find those who will benefit (us occultist gotta stick together right?).
The blend was created with carefully chosen plant spirits to cleanse your space, raise your vibrations, all while keeping you grounded to enter that in-between state.
2 teaspoons myrrh resin
2 teaspoons cedar needles
1.5 teaspoon lavender
1 teaspoon lemon peel
If you prefer to make cone incense this recipe is still completely doable. Just substitute the cedar needles or powder and utilize a binder and a bit of water. There are tons of articles you can find on the web on how to create cone incense.
Otherwise, set up your cauldron, light your charcoal, and sprinkle a bit of this baby before setting yourself in trance and feel the magick happen.
